Making Homemade Wines.

Introduction and Basic Instructions.


Reg Butler has been making homemade wines for more than 40 years. This website will give others the opportunity to try some of his recipes.

You will need the following equipment for making wine. Many branches of Boots the Chemist sell winemaking equipment.

What you will need.
A large saucepan (a preserving pan, used for jam making, is ideal)
A five-gallon plastic fermenting bin
Sodium Metabisulphite sterilising powder
A siphon tube
One-gallon glass demijohns and corks
Airlocks for the demijohns
A wine filter
Wine bottles and corks
