The Story The TARDIS lands near Jaffa, late in the 12th century. Richard the Lionheart is tiring of his war against the Saracen ruler, Saladin and wishes to make peace by offering his sister, Joanna, in marriage to Saladin's brother. The travellers become embroiled in intrigue in Richard's court and Barbara is captured by the evil El Akir.

The Production This story has a strong script and excellent performances from the leads, particularly Julian Glover as Richard. Sadly, only episodes 1 and 3 have survived.

Availability Episodes 2 and 4 of this story are missing. Episodes 1 and 3 plus the soundtracks of episodes 2 and 4 were released on the Lost In Time DVD set.
