Before Dean Cain....... Before Christopher Reeve....... GEORGE REEVES was Superman. From 1951 until his controversial death in 1959, George Reeves played the man of steel in film and more than a hundred TV episodes.
Superman was the last role for George, following a distinguished film career which included "Gone With The Wind". His death in 1959 remains a mystery to many of his fans. During a party at his home, a shot was heard from an upstairs room. George Reeves was found dead, from a single gunshot to the head. The official verdict was suicide, but no note was ever found. He was 45.
