"My Favorite Martian" was a popular sitcom in the early 1960s, and told the story of a Martian (Ray Walston) living with a journalist, Tim O'Hara (Bill Bixby) and pretending to be his Uncle Martin, while attempting to repair his spaceship.

The pilot episode of the programme sees Tim O'Hara on his way home from missing the flight of the X-15 that he was supposed to cover for his newspaper, when he sees a small spacecraft crash in a desolate area. The man he pulls from the ship is a Martian professor who has been studying the people of Earth for several hundred years. The Martian gives him details of the X-15 flight and, when the story is printed, Tim is arrested for releasing top secret information....

Bill Bixby appeared in several films but is best known for his TV work. In the 1970s he had the starring role in a series called "The Magician", but he is probably best remembered for playing Doctor David Banner in "The Incredible Hulk", a successful TV series that spawned several movies. Bill Bixby died of prostate cancer on 22nd November 1993. He was 59.

Ray Walston had a long acting career. In the 1970s, he guest-starred with Bill Bixby as a conjurer in an episode of "The Incredible Hulk" entitled "My Favorite Magician". He had a cameo role in the film version of "My Favorite Martian" which starred Christopher Lloyd. Ray Walston died on 1st January 2001, aged 86.
